Clouds – Visions of Becoming

ExhibitionsRoom Viani at Mole Vanvitelliana

New boarders of painting
Curated by Arci and Fondo Mole Vanvitelliana

The cloud is not stable, it is pushed by the flows from place to place and in these light movements it becomes another substance, a cloud first, then rain, river, sea, fog and cloud again.
Thought, like clouds, is indefinable and endless, according to the postmodernist philosopher Jean-François Lyotard. That's why modern physics, discovering the concept of time and the concept of transformation that time entails, talks about clouds, according to Popper, comparing them to the stillness of classic physics. And today isn't it still the cloud the metaphor of virtual servers in the ether for the filing of our data? This last example is particularly significant for Clouds, that will take advantage of modern technologies of the network and of its dissemination channels.
The project wants to make art socially mobile, to make it move around the places of everyday life (houses, firms, squares, gym, shops, etc.). Moving around these places it will undergo different ways of active use; the exhibition setting will be an active subject as much as the author. The pieces of art will be alive and visible thanks to those who will show them, exhibiting them in their private spaces. Thanks to them, art can complete its function of social ritual.

Clouds originated from the certainty of the great social, collective and cultural value of art and from the need to experiment new ways to enjoy art, directly, personally, and intimately. It is a collection of a number of pieces of art made by different authors on standard formats and materials (40 x 40 cm on paper), and exhibited in spaces and contexts which are different from the ones typically used for this goal.
In fact these artworks, collected in a box, will travel like clouds towards those who wish to receive them. The use of the Internet and of the social networks will be the vehicle of dissemination, documentation and sharing of the project, whose participants can be painters, collectors, art lovers and curious people. Those interested can ask to receive some or all the artworks, in order to exhibit them in their own spaces. In this way, the spectators are not just visitors and users, but active subjects and an integrating part of the project.
At the end of the exhibition, the person who has participated into the project will put the artworks back in the travel box and send it to the next applicant. Thanks to this modality, the artworks will keep on travelling in different places, through people who request them.

Open all days from 18:00 to 22:00.

Itinerari connettivi (Connective itineraries)

ExhibitionsRoom Tamburi at Mole Vanvitelliana

Curated by Associazione Gino l’Immortale

The exhibition "Connective Itineraries" is created to draw the attention of the audience on the road of research taken by some Italian artists who have become, on the national stage, a sort of "aesthetic hubs" of the global network. Their artworks are made of stories, ideologies, settings of this era and have the common feature of belonging to the global dimension, the dimension in which all the human relations coexist in a single home called world, where geographic, cultural, space and time boarders are set according to a new perspective.
The artworks create an itinerary around the concept of “connection”, understood at different levels, semantic and philosophic. The digitalization of reality and its transfer into the informatic global network - based on the network of human links - creates new scenarios of living in new dimensions where the contemporary is subject to different declinations and semantic contexts. The goal of this exhibition is to find links, hidden and unexpected or ostensibly clear, in the cultural Babel called Contemporary, because art has the capability to manipulate reality using its conceptual forms to create every time something new and to anticipate the direction of soul. In art, nothing is more real than something else and, most of all, nothing is historically faker than something else.

Carlo Ockham Lucifero, Rome

In the exhibition “Connective Itineraries” (23rd of August - 28th of September) we have added a series of conferences concerning art in Le Marche Region during the 70s. The goal is to contextualize the tendencies of contemporary art from the historical point of view, showing that they are actually the result of a recent, flourishing and productive past in our region.

What we firmly believe is that Gino De Dominicis was not born “alone”. In those years in Le Marche, artistic research was spread and shared by several artists who marked the end of a cycle of history, paving the way for the contemporary period.

Our attempt is to rebuild ideas and facts from the point of view of the present, because detachment is the only way to observe reality.

As regards the method, we let artists speak and answer as far as possible the questions posed by experts of other disciplines or by people who shared the overwhelming experience known as avan-garde. On the other hand, some other conferences are focused on the historical and social context in which they were elaborated, and on the philosophical interpretations of contemporary art.

Passaggi. Le parole dell’umanità attraverso la cultura ebraica (Passages. The words of mankind through the Jewish culture)

ExhibitionsMuseo Tattile Statale Omero

Multisensorial exhibition curated by Andrea Sòcrati.

Starting a travel through the ancient and rich awesomeness of the Jewish culture to discover an alternative dimension to the present and the daily habits, a dimension to seize for an instant the wonder of the world. “PASSAGES - The words of mankind through the Jewish culture”, is the only big exhibition that from the 31st of August will gather, for an active and direct participation, visitors and tourists who are, as mentioned in the title, passing by ("Passaggi") the port of the city, the stones of the building Mole Vanvitelliana. This exhibition is promoted by the Homer State Tactile Museum and by the Jewish Community of Ancona.
The Western Wall, Kotel in Hebrew, also known as Wailing Wall, is one of the most sacred and important ones in Jerusalem and Israel. Jews go there to pray, to express desires and their most private thoughts. It is right here where the word becomes the threshold, the union of the physical and the spiritual, the human and the divine. The word is no longer just lògos, but it becomes fact, gesture, body, a perception pervading all our senses.
A big fabric patchwork (not a barrier) welcomes us, and wants to be crossed to take us metaphorically through a necessary inner travel to reach a possible different dimension, a fourth dimension that "turns the world upside down", making space for dream and imagination.
This is the purpose of Passaggi, the artwork made by Andrea Socrati. The spiritual and mystic strength of the Western Wall is expressed through the sculptures of Socrati, made of terracotta or plaster works, and through a series of relief thermography; another series of thermographies and installations recall the fantastic and visionary world of Marc Chagall.

Four artists from Jerusalem will exhibit the land, the sounds, the mood of Israel, with four artworks:
Chana Cromer, The Distaff Side, inspired to “La donna di carattere” from Libro dei Proverbi, in line with the XV edition of the European day of Jewish culture (14th September 2014);
Ruth Schreiber, Love letters, letters in porcelain inspired to the letters left in the fissures of the Western Wall of Jerusalem.
Andi Arnovitz, Construct/Destruct. Bricks and stones of the old town remind us the Temple of Salomon.
Neta Elkayan, artist between music and figurative arts, audio titled Abuhatzeira, dedicated to the rabbi El Yaakov Abuhatzeira.
In addition to the artists from Jerusalem, three artists who work in Le Marche will participate and will meet the visitors to tell their stories and present their work: Francesco Colonnelli, Giulietta Gheller e Bruno Mangiaterra.
The adoption of NFC technology for some of the exhibited works will not just enhance their multisensorial aspects, but it will also facilitate the access of the disabled, in line with the aim and the mission of the Homer Museum.

The exhibition is part of the program of the Adriatico Mediterraneo Festival, and it is promoted by the Embassy of Israel in Rome, in collaboration with the Biennale of Jewish Contemporary Art of Jerusalem and the Association "Per il Museo Tattile Statale Omero" Onlus.

“I corpi, sotto indumenti d’epoca,/li ho conosciuti come forme piene/toccate dal chiarore della luce/che in me non è mai stata un ornamento,/ma il luogo in cui s’invera la passione/che sceglie, nel colore, vocazione/a dire l’imprendibile che oscilla/tra il nulla e il niente del sipario eterno.”
These are some verses related to the last work by Lorenzo Lotto, the Presentazione di Gesù al Tempio, elaborated in Loreto in 1555, when he was almost totally blind, and left unfinished. An enigmatic, disquieting and surprisingly modern work, inspiring the last writing of Francesco Scarabicchi, a poem made of sixty one texts: a path full of questions with no answer about an unknown and solitary destiny.
In these stanzas the author describes himself as a misunderstood artist, doomed to a solitary and restless destiny.

Francesco ScarabicchiFrancesco Scarabicchi was born in Ancona in 1951. He published many collections of poems and translated Antonio Machado and García Lorca. He has always dealt with figurative arts. He created and directs, since 2002, the journal of writings, images and voices “nostro lunedì” (“Our Monday”). Through the publisher Donzelli, in the collection of poetry, he has published L'esperienza della neve (2003) and L'ora felice (2010).

Presentation of the books “Uno che dove va non ritorna” by Mario Di Desidero and “Stanno tutti bene” by Pierfrancesco Curzi

Uno che dove va non ritorna
Mario Di Desidero
Novel - publisher «Pequod»
Introduces Valerio Cuccaroni

cover Uno che dove va non ritornaAn unexpected heritage, and the possibility to make a dream come true: living in London. Poulson, a forty years old man in search of answers, bored to death of his life in a small town, doesn't think twice and leaves everything behind to go to London to settle down. But often, the privilege to enjoy our time in absolute freedom is not enough to feel satisfied. That's why other targets, other places and other people become necessary. "Uno che dove va non ritorna" (literally, One doesn't return to the place he was"), is the story of a disillusioned existence that sails, rather floats on the flow of events. Poulson, the protagonist, is not able to go into deep, to truly live his experiences: he wanders as disoriented, with no direction, and never steps back. A long series of encounters and events, brief love stories, paradoxical situations described with sharp irony and several twists in the plot; but also a tragic and comical growth of consciousness, told through an accurate existential and psychological analysis. Is it possible to know whether the events of our lives are caused by the case or by will. The unexpected final is the answer to this question.

Mario Di Desidero was born in Lanciano. He worked as a scriptwriter in the production of movies about music, like Tamburi e Dei (Tambores ed Deuses, Brasil/Germany, 2001) and Palestrina princeps musicae (Palestrina. Fürst der Musik, Germany/Italy, 2010).

Stanno tutti bene.
Zaino in spalla in Rwanda, Uganda e Kenya sulle tracce di conflitti etnici e folli dittatori
Pierfrancesco Curzi
publisher «Pequod»
Introduces Daniele Valeri

cover Stanno tutti beneA guide, a diary, a tale, a documented story of the recent history of the visited countries: Everybody is fine - Backpacker in Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya on the track of ethnic conflicts and crazy dictators is all these things.
The faithful reconstruction of a 20 days travel through Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda made 15 years after the genocide that shocked Rwanda. Curzi reiterates day by day this extraordinary adventure (as usual during his travels around the world) in a close contact with people and in search of evidence and stories; he puts together the historical events that led the three countries to be what they are today, after the tragedy that gave the book the ironical and paradoxical title "Everybody is fine". But Curzi also gives food for thought and suggestions for unexplored routes out of the usual schemes and tracks.
The reader will live as a protagonist a new travel in undiscovered paths, coming across characters of fiction, but extremely real at the same time, and finding the way to start a unique experience with a backpack and following the author in his adventure. The novel describes with accurateness every day, alternating historical and political digressions with useful suggestions for travellers on the road.
At the beginning of every paragraph, the reader will find the itinerary of the visited places, a mark of the day and an estimate of the expenses. The book contains some photos that have been taken during the travel.

Pierfrancesco Curzi was born in Ancona 46 years ago. He has worked as a journalist for 22 years, and since 2001 he collaborates with «il Resto del Carlino», and writes reports on «Il Fatto Quotidiano» and «il Manifesto». He has always travelled alone, in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, Tunisia, Morocco, Sierra Leone, Mauritania, Senegal, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kurdistan. He has been an international observer during the elections in Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Two monologues to talk about violence against women and femicide.
“La storia di Salvatore” (The story of Salvatore): an ironic and funny monologue becomes a noir fiction. An ex wife falls in love with an ex wife. The two wives get to know each other, they discover themselves, they fall in love and become a new couple. They are happy, but the ex husband of Maria doesn't accept it.
“Mi sembrava gentile” (Seemed to me gentle): a man meets the woman of his life. She is thin and encouraging, but she has a "difficult" behaviour. The couple switches from a disillusioned and passionate love to slaps. But she thinks that, in a way, she deserves those slaps, because she is not self-confident.

“Storie di donne morte ammazzate” (Stories of murdered women) is a project of artistic awareness, training and information about violence against women, created and written by Betta Cianchini, who will meet the public during the show. The project is in collaboration with Associazione Punto D and the artists of Spettacoliadomicilio.it.

Concert for harp and cello

MusicCasa delle Culture, via Vallemiano 46 Ancona

Curated by Musica & Sport

Chiara Burattini, cello
Margherita Burattini, harp

Inspired by the Mediterranean spirituality, which in ancient Greece outlined the contrast between the Dionysian mysticism and Apollonian harmony, a dialogue between two very different instruments, aimed at highlighting how the archaic antithesis revisited by harp and cello, can give rise to a combination of extraordinary vitality.
The songs that will be executed draw on a repertoire that ranges between styles, eras and very different cultures, in order to highlight the different nuances that the two voices, exchanging their "roles" of Apollo and Dionysus, may assume.

The Divanhana comes from Sarajevo, an historical melting pot between East and West, to propose vivacious arrangements of traditional music of Bosnia and Erzegovina. Their music puts a particular emphasis on the sound of the sevdalinka, the traditional musical instrument to express love and distance, passion and joy, dated back to the Ottoman Empire. The band was born in 2009 from a group of students of the music academy of Sarajevo, who, using their respective experiences and sensitiveness, decided to combine elements of the sephardic and eastern music with a pronounced sensitiveness for jazz. Their music flows with the clear voice of the singer Leila Ćatić, that leads the emotions of the listeners in a rich path of joy and melancholy. The group has just participated into a festival in Greece and Portugal and has just finished a tour through the whole Europe.

Between Puglia and the Balkans

Between Puglia and the Balkans

Redi Hasa, cello
Maria Mazzotta, voice

An unusual encounter, an innovative experiment. The result is an extraordinary duo in which the incredible voice of Maria Mazzotta from Salento, soloist of the ensemble Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, easily intertwines with the strings of the Albanian cello of Redi Hasa, soloist of the ensemble of Ludovico Einaudi and of the group Bandadriatica, from Puglia. The project, not by chance titled "Ura" (meaning "bridge" in Albanian and "now" in Salento dialect), brings to light the possible connections among the repertories sailing in the Adriatic sea, joining the Balkans and the Carpathians with the regions of Southern Italy. The voice of Maria Mazzotta gently floats and it is rich of endless shades coming from the musical languages of the two shores, while the sound of Redi Hasa is always adjustable to traditional melodies, making this project incredibly fascinating and capable to build a bridge between distant worlds that become extremely close thanks to music.

Publisher Minimum Fax

A tragedy happens on a day of 1987 inside the wall of Urbino. Two girls, two sisters, Ester and Bianca are found dead on a bench of a park, with a needle in their veins. Ten years later, twenty years later, today, Ester and Bianca are still alive in the stories of many people. A university student would like to comfort their old and sick mother. Some young musicians seem to inspire to their discs collection. An unsuccessful writer decides to talk about them in a novel. Also objects and memories from the 80s and 90s survive, drugs, glory, inflexibility - a picture on the shelf of the kitchen, a rock song, a piece of crime news of Resto del Carlino, the ring bartered by the two sister to get the last dose of heroin. Collecting four stories linked Ester and Bianca, the new novel by Alessio Torino tells about a physical place, Urbino, that becomes little by little a universal space of the heart.

Alessio TorinoAlessio Torino (Urbino, 1975) started off in 2010, publishing the novel for Pequod Undici decimi (Bagutta Opera Prima Award and Frontino Award), which was followed in 2011 by Tetano (winner of Lo Straniero Award) for Minimum Fax publisher.

Introduces prof. Giancarlo Galeazzi (festival exclusive)

Unlike the ancient world, where passing the line set by God is considered ybris, an act of arrogance to be punished, modernity means going beyond the limits, it means sailing towards the unknown.
In its spiritual adventures and in the discovery of unknown lands, modern thought has reassessed curiosity.
Even if modernity has not to be seen as an absolute triumph, a pure innovation, a complete turning point from the past, it has evidently challenged many taboo subjects imposed by the tradition, expecially the ones set by the Christian religion.
Modernity has tried to reveal the arcana naturae, the arcana dei and the arcana imperii. The long and accelerated process of globalization has drastically modified the idea of limit. The boarders of State have become less rigid. Civilization that once were distant or indifferent are now interconnected, they meet and they crash. Media, migrations, change the landscape of modernity, transforming reality and the perception of limits. Mental and emotional boarders of the new generations change as well.

An open and stimulating dialogue on most topical issues of modernity, with Remo Bodei, professor of Philosophy at the University of California. After studying thoroughly the German idealism, romanticism, utopia, he started 20 years ago to analyse the theory of passions, of models of consciousness, of problems related to individual and collective identity.

Experience, feeling and passion handed down for years, a slow and painstaking process in which love for music translates into lifeblood.

Full Vacuum coverFull Vacuum is a musical project whose origin has to be found in the deep space. The concept of the project embraces a sort of psychedelic spirituality, in line with artists like Battiato, Gonjasufim George Clinton, Sun Ra.
The live show is a particularly creative formula, containing a fusion of music and performances of live paint and theatre. Lacking of a real and defined music genre, Full Vacuum generates a sound that floats among vibrations belonging to different genres, from blues to reggae, dub and songwriter music, Latin American and dancehall. The themes are universal, all connected to spirit, reality, love, life and Earth. The exploration of the limitless artistic universe becomes the destination of the travel that brings the listener in a new dimension, without time and space, where differences of culture, countries, categories and individuals don't exist anymore. A travel into the sea of music, made richer by the influences and shades of every harbour achieved.

Halfway between narrative reportage of travel and map of the soul, Balkan Circus is an experience, a journey into the breath of a colorful and amazing world. A prose which knows Kusturica and Goran Bregovic, weddings and funerals: the Balkans in sweet and sour sauce. Balkan Circus is a journey of the soul that winds through the Balkans, meaning almost legendary epicenter of a Europe still to be explored, which starts from Slovenia and reaches the Caucasus and Siberia, through the Tatra mountains. Floramo gives birth to a set of intersections that arise from the discovery of special people, extraordinary fellow adventurers. Meetings at times touching, others grotesque or ironic, hilarious and improbable, greedy or amazing. The places he describes become almost legendary, according to the story that they know how to narrate, for the energy running through them.

Angelo Floramo was born in Udine in 1966. Friulian, Mixed Race, is Balkan father's side. Medievalist by training, he has published several critical essays, monographs and scientific articles in national and international journals. He teaches humanities at the Technical Institute of Gemona Marchetti (Ud). He is director of the Library Guarneriana di San Daniele (UD).

The Italian cuisine has accepted processes and ingredients from all over the world, to reinvent them and make them their own, building, around the food, a unique culture and a collective identity. Because the kitchen is always contamination and improves traveling and meeting the different.
The size of the Italian genius was - and still is - in reinterpreting the exotic, mix it with the homemade and then spread it all over the world.
The journalist Alessandro Marzo Magno thus reveals the surprising origins of the great protagonists of Italian gastronomy: we learn that the pasta has Arabic origins, the pizza was prepared by the ancient Greeks, and that when we have breakfast at the bar with coffee and croissant, we taste a Turkish drink accompanied by a sweet that symbolizes the Ottoman flag.

Alessandro Marzo MagnoAlessandro Marzo Magno is a journalist, has been several times in the Balkans during the conflict that has ravaged former Yugoslavia. The Adriatic Sea becomes, as in the past, a bridge between its banks, to connect worlds once united politically and culturally. Trasponde is a show based on the intertwining of stories and folk songs of the Adriatic-Mediterranean area and original compositions by Giovanni Seneca, in an intriguing balance between cultural and popular, between classicism and modernity.
The songs have elements in local languages such as Bulgarian, Serbian, Greek, Ladino, Turkish and various Italian dialects. It is therefore a multilingual repertoire, in which sometimes the same melody accompanies texts in different languages, sometimes the same song is made of verses in various languages.
The Balkan musical repertoire is intertwined, in Trasponde, to trends in Western European music, with references and quotes that come from different geographical areas and music: from the Balkans to South Italy, from baroque music to the Central European dances.
Particular is also the organic of the Orchestrina Adriatica: instruments that claim their belonging to different peoples and cultures, and recall the sounds buried in our memory.
These instruments, along with the voices, are the protagonists of this aesthetic journey and accompany the listener on a trip through time and cultures, creating a unique and enveloping soundscape.

"Mediterranean and... near"
Concert for 12-string acoustic guitar

Marco Poeta, considered by international critics as one of the most interesting, original and versatile acoustic guitarists of recent years, has an interpretive flair that makes it unique in its kind.
The uniqueness of his art is in the 12-string guitar plucked with the Portuguese "UNHAS", which is the ancient technique of Lisbon's fado to play guitar using only the thumb and forefinger.
A difficult and original technique, that only few, in the world, practice outside of the narrow Lusitanian confines, a technique that Marco Poeta uses with his 12-string acoustic guitar, creating a unique sound to the world.
In the language of phrases, thus it emerges, from the guitar's tradition, wide reminiscences: from choro to bossa-nova, from early Neapolitan's music to the fado, from Eastern Europe's gypsy music to the Mediterranean.
All thanks to the wisdom and sensibility refined in 50 years of music played as a perfect self-taught, with prestigious collaborations, from Sergio Endrigo to Eugenio Finardi, from Francesco Di Giacomo to Franco Cerri.

Adalberto Ferrari (clarinets - sax)
Roberto Zanisi (cajon – darabouka - congas)
Angelo Verbena (contrabass - electric bass)
Tommaso Summo (drum - effects)
Rossella Di Terlizzi (dance)

The design of the A3 Apulia Project is the brainchild of Fabio Wet, author, composer and guitarist specializing in the study and dissemination of swing guitar, classic instrument of the folk tradition of southern Italy. The project name is borrowed from one of the most famous highway in the South (the Salerno - Reggio Calabria), because, as the A3 highway, the A3 music of Apulia Project acts as connection for an ideal trip in the Mediterranean Sea, always the bearer of new cultures that mingle with the ancient traditions of Southern Italy. The passion for travel and, at the same time, for their own land has always been the main source of inspiration of the A3 Apulia Project. The homeland permeates the music creating an ethno-folk-rock contaminated with different matrices related to popular music, but also to the great Italian singers; to this is added a critical view of current events, which is evident in the texts characterized by a strong air of songwriting. The roots of A3 Apulia Project, therefore, not only are enclosed within the geographical boundary of Puglia, the region of origin of the band, but in every "twin" land, to draw a single region, the Mediterranean, musical fatherland and generous mother with endless stimuli. So the sounds of swing guitar, accordion and tambourine, go to flank more modern sounds, such as the one of the electric bass, of the cajon and the drum. The A3 Apulia Project want to set to music an old story, screeching on the strings of memory, pinching the vein of memories, to walk an ancient road to new horizons.

Dolce terra di Marca collects the tales of the Marches in the dialect in which they were transcribed from the voice of the people, by scholars such as Antonio Gianandrea, Guido Vitaletti, Luigi Mannocchi, with the help of a current translation in Italian, to make it possible to understand unusual slang terms, sometimes even unknown. The fairy tales concerning the Marche that Italo Calvino has included in his book Fiabe italiane (Folktales Italian), are presented in the original dialect version for take account of their “being of the Marches”.
Each tale is accompanied by reading notes, aimed to grasp with immediacy significant aspects of the same, critical issues and aspects of the local context. The illustrations that accompany them are cured by the students of the International School of Comics in Jesi, who interpreted them with their own sensitivity.
Dolce terra di Marca is a book observant to the culture of the area, to the values of a civilization that the tale tells, in the pleasure of listening and reading. A thorough introduction traces the evolution of studies on the folk tale, aimed at those who know how be passionate about this genre.

Laura Borgiani, Flavia Emanuelli, Mirella Mazzarini, from Marche, have collaborated, for a postgraduate specialization, for a study of analysis about the folk tale of the Marches. Years later, they found themselves again, after different job experiences - a teacher, an official of the cultural heritage, a school manager - to work together about the folktale of the Marche to rediscover its value and vitality. So has came the project to promote awareness and dissemination of a wealth of memory linked to the identity of the Marche.

Botanica arcana / Strange Botany
Moira Egan
bilingual edition, Italian translations by Damiano Abeni

cover Botanica arcanaAfter that the American poetess Moira Egan has fallen in love, has married the translator Damiano Abeni and has moved to Italy, she soon realized that she would no longer have written sonnets as a bad girl, such as Sex and the City, which made her well known, inducing comparisons with the poetess Edna St. Vincent Millay. But what to write? While adapting to her new life, to the Mediterranean, to live with a husband who is a passionate botanist amateur, an idea came to her mind: to follow the example of Marianne Moore, the great poetess who has innovated the American poetry, writing poems in syllabic verses that celebrate everything that is unusual and strange in creatures, in geological formations, in art objects.
In Botany arcana, each poem draws its fundamental metaphor from a plant, a fruit or a Mediterranean flower.
In these poems, Moira Egan celebrates the always deeper familiarity with the wedding oath, as well as with the unusual flavors and new stimuli of the Mediterranean landscape that has adopted her.
Maria Grazia Calandrone wrote: “Egan attacks firsthand with a fun loving botanic feeling: tender, humorous, sad, sardonic, educated and 'American' in quickness, in certain jargon's effects and light lunges on tasty home interiors seen as spying by an ajar door. But nature, translocated in poetry, always contains a metaphorical shift, starting from the ego that acts in the verses.”

Moira Egan was born in Baltimore (USA). She studied at Bryn Mawr College, John Hopkins University, and Columbia University where James Merrill awarded her the David Craig Austin Prize. Her works have appeared in many prestigious magazines in the United States and in several anthologies, including Best American Poetry 2008. Her poems have appeared in translation on Nuovi Argomenti (New Topics) and Lo Straniero (The Stranger). In 2009 she published La seta della cravatta / The Silk of the Tie (L’Obliquo). With Damiano Abeni and Joseph Harrison has published Un mondo che non può essere migliore: Poesie scelte 1956-2007 (A world that can not be better: Selected Poems 1956-2007) (Sossella Editore, 2008), a wide selection of poems by John Ashbery.

Terra madre/terra matrigna (mother earth/stepmother earth) is a performance and a special project for Adriatico Mediterraneo by the duo Interiors (Scherl-Corzani) enhanced by the voice of the Apulian singer Serena Fortebraccio (component, among other things, of the vocal group Faraualla) enriched by the projection of a beautiful documentary on the earth (“Home” by French director Yann Arthus-Bertrand). “Terra Madre Terra Matrigna” is a title that emphasizes the double track of the images of the documentary that are often beautiful, but also ambiguous and sometimes fierce, meaning that tell the debacles caused by humans. On the other side, the title also fits to the accompanying sound that will be made of acoustic sounds and "betrayals" of the acoustic sound, of angelic voices and devilish voices, of ancestral beats that can be connected to the concept of mother earth and crooked, restless, limping rhythms that remind and suggest instead a concept of stepmother earth.

The poetry and the music interpret the nature of the sea

Texts by Renata Morresi - Music by Federico Paolinelli
Music and poetry between sky and sea

Federico Paolinelli, piano
Renata Morresi, voice

The piano of Federico Paolinelli and the poetry of Renata Morresi together for a show dedicated entirely to the sea.
The music of Paolinelli is an attempt to go "beyond" and to express feelings and emotions through music, which are part of everyone's life and are difficult to express in any other way. The search of an elsewhere, the out of proportion of freedom, the absence of physical limitations.
These are some of the many elements that make up the flight through the piano of Federico Paolinelli. Who wants to take the updraft of the notes has the chance to live music at a multidimensional level where sea and sky can be confused easily.
The scenario of the poetry of Renata Morresi is for anything metaphysical, but “crostoso assolato, popoloso popolato” (crusted sunny, populous populated), not forgetting the material truth which designates the very human differences and the inhuman injustice (above all: those that affect migrants), and also opened and mysterious to the possibility of other orders and metamorphosis beyond-human. In this space are moving, loose, beings almost interchangeable extremely small, the distant eras, fossils and extraterrestrials, octopuses and turtles, humans “like hair on the body of the case”, and the voice of who writes, floating with them.

The book describes a journey roundtrip from Arbus, the land of knives, to Turin, the city of the car and of hope for so many emigrants in search of a less bleak future of what awaited them in the hinterland of western Sardinia, as well as many others in the south of Italy. Here then is the story of the work at Mirafiori, of the '69 with workers' struggles, of the 70s, of the defeats and the return to Sardinia, with the discovery of a new life in contact with the sea and its environment.
The book is a dialogue between Gianni Usai and Loris Campetti, journalist and writer, covering more than sixty age of small and large history, and wonders about the hopes, dreams and nightmares, the victories and defeats of a piece of generation - the sessantottini - that continues to believe that another world is possible.

Gianni Usai, who emigrated from Sardinia to Turin, he worked at Fiat Mirafiori until 1980. He worked at the construction and growth of the fishermen cooperative of Su Pallosu and collaborates with the Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Cagliari.

Spanish music and dance

Andrea Candeli, guitar
Corrado Ponchiroli, voice, dance, palmas
Michele Serafini, flute
Chiara Guerra, dance, palmas

The project, conceived and directed by Andrea Candeli, is a musical journey through the songs and poems of Federico Garcia Lorca. The guitar will take the viewer on a sentimental journey to discover the mythical creations, such as the figure of the “Gypsy” and “torero”, come out from the pen of the poet more sensitive. Are arias with a strong local color, impregnated with all variants of the pain, always dominated by love and death, where the eternal question, typically in Lorca, remains unanswered. It is an artistic transposition of that gypsy Andalusia, rich of cultural folk traditions, strongly dominated by colors and feelings, able to convey emotions so deep in their primitive simplicity.
The project therefore has the ambition to plot a musical-historical thread of a tradition so rich but little-known, through music, the dancing, the singing of Andalusia and the verses written by Federico Garcia Lorca.

The black tarantella meets the Macedonian fanfare, and the result is an explosion of music, sounds, voices and colors that break down walls and boundaries, go beyond the seas and through villages and towns. (festival exclusive)

Enzo Avitabile has dedicated his life to the search of new sounds, incredibly vital, stirring constantly ancient and modern. Thirty years of intense career devoted entirely to the opening and hybridisation of languages and cultural exchanges, without ever abandoning its origins, even digging in the depths of their own history and realizing new interpretations and suggestions.
In this new project meets the fanfare of Kocani Orkestar, a stunning mix of traditions, ethnicities and rhythms, where the instruments used are those of the traditional Balkan band, but the influences are varied and impressive.
The Kocani moves for years on the stages of the world's most important festival and boasts numerous and prestigious collaborations. The result of the meeting is pyrotechnic, a surprise waiting to be discovered.

Enrico Ambrosio, voice, dance
Sara Pierleoni, voice
Vincenzo Marinucci, oboe, tambourine, guitar

Incantatori di Tarante offer famous pieces of Salento's pinches and original songs of the group, that are characterized by the obsessive and unbridled rhythm of the powerful tambourines, of the guitars, of the harmonica, of the accordion, of the flute and violin, of the warm voices and the overwhelming dance of the dancers of pinches tarantula.
Stars of the show are the skins of the tambourines and percussions, the vibrant pizzicato of the violin, the poignant melodies of the wind, the melancholic harmonies of the guitars, the voices of Salento and the banging feet, dancing naked in contact with the ground, taking from it the same primordial energy that unleashes our passion towards the pinch and the magical ritual of tarantism.
Incantatori di tarante arise as part of the musical group of the University of Urbino, then performing in squares throughout Italy.
Energy, theatrical choreographic and musical culture are the elements that distinguish the group, with the head in Urbino, and the heart in Salento.
